The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has just announced a momentous achievement: Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for our esteemed facility. What sets this remarkable feat apart is that we are the very first sturgeon breeding farm exclusively dedicated to caviar production to be bestowed with this prestigious recognition.
innovative and eco-conscious fish breeding
Since our establishment in 2017, we have consistently led the way in innovative and eco-conscious fish breeding and caviar production within the borders of Azerbaijan.
Baku Caviar's approach to sustainable aquaculture harmoniously melds conventional and modern breeding techniques. This is vividly exemplified through our adept use of the Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS), the cage culture model, and advanced seaside tanks. These methods guarantee optimal water quality and nutrition during the critical stages of incubation and early fish development, creating a nurturing and stress-free environment for the fish's growth.

‘We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Baku Caviar for its groundbreaking achievement as the pioneer caviar farm to embrace BAP certification. This not only underlines their unwavering dedication to responsible practices but also underscores their commitment to environmental stewardship, social accountability, food safety, and animal welfare.’
Our unique approach involves mixing freshwater from the Kura River with saltwater from the Caspian Sea. This combination mirrors the sturgeon's natural habitat and is crucial in
Maintaining the exceptional quality of Baku Caviar.
We're delighted to organize fish release events, where we release 10 sturgeon species into their natural habitat for every jar of caviar we sell. This heartfelt initiative is central to our mission of preserving the critically endangered sturgeon populations native to the Caspian Sea.
What is a BAP certificate?
Best Aquaculture Practices is a third-party certification initiative crafted by the Global Seafood Alliance. This international, nonprofit trade association is unwavering in its commitment to promoting environmentally and socially responsible seafood practices through a combination of education, advocacy, and third-party assurances.
